Ni hao! Budapest
is lovely! Trailside stories
swapped, boughs spread wide … spring.

Caldera
As residency;
As geologic soufflé:
Holds space for magic.

A modern-day love story
We met online; six
week friendship test period:
The anti-hookup.
A season for silly
Breaks rejuvenate
Even when the writing’s great.
Built a snow lobster!

(My partner has 3 stuffed lobsters, all identical but different sizes, and I brought 2 of them with me to this artist residency. I swear, him lending me a stuffed lobster was a bigger moment than him giving me a key! Of course I texted him a picture of this. Also, I might’ve been laughing the entire time I was making the snow lobster.)
Pause for sanity
Open porch beckons.
Silver sunshine, singing creek.
Lunchtime companions.
First writer’s residency: update
The days slip by, yet
progress is great. More! Faster!
Hunger never filled.
Date night | 144 miles
Your voice curls around
my heart. Landline to cell phone,
distance compresses.
A writer hits her stride
Working amid a
fortress of pine: thoughts flourish,
pen speeds along page.
Skirting writer’s block
Cork board reads: when stuck,
Skip ahead three paragraphs.
Mantra for the month.
Serendipity
Trip to town turned up
two skeletons playing cards.
Now it’s back to work.
